About Us
Policyholder-owned, hometown-run — for 140 years and counting.
Our story
United Mutual Insurance Company was chartered with the Illinois Department of Insurance in 1886 — this is our 140th year in business. Our original charter was Farmers Albion Mutual Insurance Company.
We serve the good people of Southern Illinois with their property and casualty needs. We look forward to serving your insurance needs, and we want your input as a policyholder.
“After all is said and done, this is your insurance company, and we are here to serve you.”

Our mission
United Mutual Insurance Company was founded with the idea in mind to be of local service to their friends and neighbors in the event they should suffer a loss. Our goal is to offer service and products to our policyholders in order to meet their insurance needs. We will strive to hold a line on costs and maintain strong reserves.
